Horizon West Theater Company General Board of Directors Representative

Description:

The Horizon West Theater Company Board of Directors is the governing body, overseeing vision, mission,

and internal operations of the organization. Board members are elected for a three-year term with the

ability to be re-elected at the end of their term. Board members hold overall fiscal and managerial

oversight responsibility for Horizon West Theater Company. They are responsible for decision making,

delegating work, and assuring decisions are carried out in the manner intended. Ultimately, board

members serve as ambassadors for Horizon West Theater Company, inside and outside of organizational

commitments. Please note Horizon West Theater Company is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) and all individuals

involved, including board members, are volunteers.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a leading ambassador of Horizon West Theater Company’s mission, programs, and services
• Agree to a three-year board term with the option of renewal or election to the Executive Board.
• Follow Board of Directors by laws, policies, and resolutions.
• Maintain confidentiality about internal matters of the organization.
• Regularly attend and prepare for monthly board meetings and important related meetings.
• Serve on at least one sub-committee, preferably as a chair, and attend/run committee meetings.
• Commit to an annual philanthropic commitment as determined by the individual board member and fundraise/recruit members on behalf of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Theater/Business/Non-Profit Management general knowledge (e.g., accounting, production management, etc.)
• Grant writing experience
• Volunteer coordination experience
• Knowledge and/or use of Google Drive
• Knowledge and/or use of Slack
• Past or current leadership engagement with Horizon West Theater Company (e.g., production team, crew, volunteer, sponsor, etc.)
